Mosque - Abunjeym (Libya)
Architectural project (Tripoli)
DescriptionGalleryDetails
This small mosque is part of the facility buildings of the Abunjeym Master Plan (view URBAN DESIGN). All public functions are planned according to revised Libyan urban planning standards. Among the amenities there are a kindergarten, primary schools, indoor- and outdoor-sport center, cultural center, cafés, spare time- and shopping facilities, a health care unit with a pharmacy, administrative offices and infrastructural equipment.
The Mosque occupies a focus location at the center of the settlement. The building is circumcised from walls which define the religious space. Within the walls ablution amenities are separated for women and for men. In the mosque building women find space for praying on a balcony, also here, according to the cultural habit, strictly separated from men.
